A private prescription may be issued by a private GP, consultant, dentist or another authorised prescriber. The pharmacy checks it carefully before any medicine is supplied.
Clinical and legal checks
The pharmacist checks that the prescription is valid, that the dose is appropriate and that the medicine is suitable alongside your other treatment. We may contact the prescriber if anything needs clarification.
Understanding the cost
Unlike NHS prescriptions in Wales, private prescription prices reflect the medicine cost and the work involved in dispensing it. We will explain the price before supply wherever possible.
Every private prescription receives the same careful clinical checks as any other medicine we dispense.
